MANILA, Philippines – Hollywood’s most prestigious awards, the Oscars, concluded its 2025 edition on Monday, March 3, Philippine time.

Anora, the Sean Baker film about a sex worker who marries a wealthy client to the disapproval of the latter’s family, is still showing on several Ayala Mall cinemas in Quezon City, Paranaque, Cebu, and Makati, according to listings on Clickthecity.com.

With Philippine theaters changing movies every Wednesday, you still have at least two days to catch the film on the big screen, in case you haven’t yet — that is unless an extension is in order, with the film taking home five awards (Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Screenplay) at the 2025 Oscars, the most of the night.

The film is one of two Oscar-nominated films that are exclusively showing at Ayala Malls locations.

The other film is The Brutalist, a postwar three-and-a-half-hour epic about the modernist architect Laszlo Toth played by this year’s Best Actor, Adrien Brody. The Brutalist will be opening in Philippine theaters for the first time on Wednesday, March 5.

The film has the second-most wins at this year’s Oscars with three awards (Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score).

The Substance is also still showing on several Ayala Malls theaters.

Other nominated films such as Conclave, and A Complete Unknown are still on wide theatrical release as of writing, including SM Cinemas. Available via video-on-demand are Dune: Part Two (HBO Max), and Wicked (YouTube Movies).

Three of the 8 Best Picture nominees (Emilia Perez, I’m Still Here, and Nickel Boys) are the ones you’ll have to look harder for as they are currently not showing in Philippine cinemas or on the usual streaming services in the country.

Emilia Perez is currently on Netflix in other regions such as the US, Canada, and the UK, while Elle reports that I’m Still Here, the first Brazilian film to win a Best International Feature trophy, may come to Netflix down the line, given distributor Sony’s history with the streaming platform. It’s currently unclear whether Netflix will also distribute Emilia Perez in regions other than the 3 already mentioned.

Nickel Boys, distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, is currently on streaming on US platform MGM+, where Amazon MGM films drop first before expanding to the Amazon Prime Video platform, according to Mashable. – Rappler.com
