MANILA, Philippines – A consultant for Bulacan 3rd District Representative Lorna Silverio was among the three persons killed in an ambush in San Rafael, Bulacan, on Friday, March 21.
Silverio told Rappler that among the dead was Bryan Villaflor, who was her information technology consultant.
Police said the other fatalities were Jayvee Mariano, described as a security aide, and a certain Jam, whom initial reports described as Villaflor’s girlfriend.
The three were said to be onboard a Ford Everest driven by Villaflor when they were waylaid by armed men riding two SUVs around 3 pm Friday at Barangay Capihan, San Rafael.
According to police report, also wounded were passengers of a jeepney, a tricycle, and a car, which were in the area when during the broad-daylight attack .
The police said they recovered over 25 spent bullet shell casings in the crime scene, but they have yet to establish the motive for the attack.
Silverio refused to say if the attack could be politically motivated, as she is term-limited and is not running for any position in the May elections. Seeking to succeed her as congressional representative is her son, Victor, who is running against San Rafael Mayor Cholo Violago and independent JG Agojo. – Rappler.com
