MANILA, Philippines – Doom has quite the legacy. You know how we call games that use elements from the seminal Dark Souls games as “Souls-likes?” Doom embedded itself into gaming vernacular also back before first-person shooters became extremely popular, with games borrowing elements from the 1993 original being called “Doom clones.”

That term is hardly used anymore as people know exactly what a first-person game is, unlike in the ’90s when you needed to mention the Doom games to instantly communicate what kind of game it was.

The series’ lasting appeal has been incredible too as the latest iteration, Doom: The Dark Ages, is all set for a May 13 release.
